Silver Linings

Got the news this week that the audio on Journeyman Warsmith is going to be pushed back another 4-5 weeks. Sucks, huh?
A little. But the upside? It is because my audio guy is doing a movie. And he said, and I quote, he would 'wear the heck out of' the cover shirts I sent him as a thank you for his work on Apprentice Swordceror.
I'll be the first one to admit that The Blademage Saga is not ready for either the big or small screen. It's unfinished, the ending is a wild card for anyone that's not me.
The thought of getting a little exposure in those kind of circles is still exciting.

Digging into the next round of edits on Blademage Adept, having fixed or justified nearly all of Ken's editorial concerns. Enhancing some scenes and working on keeping some of the new cast differentiated from the old in the early parts of the book.

Barring substantial misfortune, we're looking at a release in mid to late June.

Local Cover Reveal Event More Than Cheesy PowerPoint Presentation, Author Claims

Seriously, though. It is more.

We'll have:

PowerPoint Presentation highlighting the negotiation process for the cover of Blademage Adept.
Readings from Diane Rice and myself from the new book.
Raffle prizes! Shirts, mugs, free audio codes, etc.
Pizza from Papa John's.

All this, and it's only really 45 minutes out of your day.

This Saturday, 5-5:45pm at the Ada Community Library, Victory branch.

Substantial attendance could inspire another good donation to the library's Special Events Department!

I know it's short notice, but we'd really like to see a bunch of you there if it's possible.

Happy Star Wars Day!

Beautiful day today. I had to 'force' myself back inside to push through the second third of the moderate edits of Blademage Adept, but it happened. A few of Ken's suggestions were waved off Jedi-style... These are not the edits you're looking for...
For the most part he's nailed everything I was too close to see. Parts that I was sure were written down were still safely locked in my brain, and needed added so that passages would make sense. Passages that a newcomer such as himself might question in a fantasy novel, but a seasoned veteran of the genre would take in stride? Those took some balancing, easing in enough explanation to inform one end of the spectrum without insulting the other. The extra focus on those passages sharpened the scenes to a higher level, I think.

In addition to the edits, there are some important things coming up sooner than I'd realized.

The cover release event for Blademage Adept is THIS SATURDAY. It's 5-6pm at the Ada Library on Victory. Details on the Calendar page.

The upcoming Self-Publishing Class at TVCC is NEXT THURSDAY from 2-5 at the SBCC on the south end of campus. Details are also on the other page.

That's all for now, I still need to run into town to pick up those power converters.
